Pushing it further

I love abusing metaphors. But! That is completely irrelvant to what I actually intend to say. Pushing the Sky has now been settled for a good month, and it’s time to slowly expand the sprawl. Two plans I’ve hatched already are a forum and a Japanese version of the blog. What I’d like is a small indication of how much interest there is in either of these – more so the forum.

The Japanese blog is to get me to keep my Japanese ability somewhere near practised, and it will be more than just a pure translation – indeed, I hope that most of the time it isn’t a translation, but rather a different expression of ideas because of the language they’re being expressed in. That and I don’t think my Japanese is quite good enough.

So, the forum: chances are I’ll put it up regardless just to bring some variety to the site, as well as provide a forum for conversation, but I know how hard my pervious attempt at forums stagnated. Is there interest?

  1. dude…forums…unless you have people, they die. Look at the Jap. club. We were like the only two and it became me as the only one, who wasn’t on the committee, on the forum. But, my thought is that you’re comments are almost like a mini-forum.

  2. peter, yeah I acknowledge that… that was what was behind the slow death of my previous forums. But I think there’s sufficient interest to put up another one now, even if it will be slow going. I got room and i got hostage so why the hell not.

and I’ll fix that oversight :P

  3. dude, the comments here are enough. forums are crappy unless you’ve got a few hundred people. notice how most of the members in the old 1 signed up and never posted?

  4. Nah wouldn’t work. And everyone would hate you for it.

Plus I won’t create the database for you until you pay your hosting fees. :P

  5. oh right yeah, will do. haven’t been over to your place since that email. but it only needs a table in the db anyway :P

*shrugs* i guess there’s a lack of interest all round.

  6. Hey, Karan, you’re pretty ambitious with this… honestly though, I think what the others said about the forum is right. The comments here are nice

Thanks for reading my blog once in a while, hehe, I guess I am the one you’ve never met. Right now I’m just trying to deal with something I think might be called heartbreak as well as getting back into the school groove. I’m trying to be determined this quarter—and, if all succeeds, my determination >> lethargy + morose-ness.

On another note, I saw Memoirs of a Geisha. Have you seen it yet?

  7. heh, yeah, pretty much no interest. I’ll fiddle around and see what happens anyway because I’ve found a new forum software and I just want to see it running =)

you’ve got a nice blogging style that keeps me interested, so absolutely I’m gonna keep reading! Would have loved to have met up in LA, but maybe another day. Hope everything works out for you; in my mind, it’s a crime to not keep smiling!

Memoirs is out here on Thursday. Such is the way with films getting the backwater that is Australia. Will go see ASAP, however.
