Holy Shit I have an about page!
About pushing the sky
pushing the sky is named after a song that caught my fancy back once-upon-a-time and never let go. It’s a blog, of sorts, which tends to wander wherever I see fit.
About me
I never have quite worked out what to put in here other than the usual tripe about hello-my-name-is-and-this-is-what-I-do. I always find it interesting that people, on first introductions define themselves by their jobs: “Hello, my name is Jane and I’m an accountant.” It’s so easy – it’s two key facts that let people (a) identify you, and (b) stereotype you. Oh, she’s an accountant. Remind me to talk about taxes with her at some point.
Hello, my name is Karan, and I’m an alcoh- geek.
Yes, that’s right, geek pride. I’m the friend you call up and ask why [insert electrical device of choice] isn’t working, and I’m the guy that says “have you tried switching it off & on again?” (try it, it really does work).
By the way, I like sub-clauses. My brain tends to wander, even while writing this sentence (look, it even got stuck at this point because I forgot how I was going to wrap it up) about it wandering, and it takes a few sub-clauses to get me back on track.
So, geekdom out of the way, I suppose I should point out that I’m Australian. Except I was born in India, so I’m Indian too. That means when I ride my kangaroo to work I have a turban on my head.
Other things you might not want to know include that orange shirts are my favourites, my shoe size is 12 and I’ve lived on three continents (and counting).
